India's leading cellphone carrier is going to charge for the VoIP calls that were made through 2G and 3G networks.

Example? 
Here is a list of apps which run on VoIP and charged by Bharati Airtel:

• Skype
• Viber
• Google Hangouts
• Line
• Whatsapp voice calls (yet to be launched)

This new/last line in the Terms and Conditions says it all:

"All Internet/data packs or plans (through which customer can avail discounted rate) shall only be valid for internet browsing and will exclude VoIP (Both incoming/ Outgoing). VoIP over data connectivity would be charged at standard data rates of 4p / 10 KB (3G service) and 10p / 10 KB (2G service)." 

Will have to wait if other carriers would also follow this path or not.  Rumors suggest that Idea and Vodafone are on the line. TRAI has agreed to charge for VoIP calling.

The rumors about Whatsapp to introduce voice-calling is found to be genuine. Recent screenshots reveal that voice-calling is possible.There hasn't been any official announcement yet.

Bought by Facebook, Whatsapp with voice calls screenshots reveal the following:

• It provides various screens each for - call history, call handling (incoming/outgoing calls), call status and the other for contacts.
• Probability that the voice calls can be recorder and played back at any time.
• Facebook hasn't confirmed about the pricing yet, but it's assumed that it will be available at no cost and ad-free. 
• First release for iOS and Android. Nokia and blackberry devices would be delayed.
